Moto had one before that, although I am not sure when the Japanese SO505i appeared.

thereabouts.
EDIT The Moto swivel was
announced 6th Feb 2003.

Guess it (swivel) was too abstract a thing for ny1 to 'Patent' or the likes.. Thou I think Mobike Silencer sounds have been Patented

As for the Swivel, Iav in much recent times since my S700 purchase, played with even a wierd LG cdma swivel one.. Chaebols.. Koreans are everywhere, Pantech got some up its sleeve.. Chalta Hai..
