I have just bought a M600i and have a vodafone contract but didn't buy it from them. Has anyone successfully used Vodafone Live! and if so how did you do it?! I want to try mobile TV as it is a 3G phone...

Thanks pschaffi but that's not the problem - I can get onto to the internet easily but you need specific settings or a downlod to get Vodafone Live! -and that's what I am struggling with...

Same hear masseur - it see's the page but you go round in circles with clicking My Page etc - I suppose I will just have to wait until Vodafone start distributing the phone in the UK although I would have thought with all the know how on this website someone might have done so by now!

It took me the best part of yesterday's afternoon to get it working here in Switzerland. Live TV is also available here via the Vodafone Live. My settings certainly won't work in the UK, but it might give you a clue: The settings I download from my operator (Swisscom who operates Vodafone here) don't get me to the Vodafone portal. When I connect, I get to the SE Start Page, and there is no way I can enter the portal from there, even with the right URL. If I download settings from SE site, I get another Internet account with the same name (Swisscom GPRS) and when I use it, I go straight to the Vodafone portal and can watch Live TV. I opened both sets of settings to see what the difference was: The Vodafone settings use a proxy (192.168.210.001) with a proxy server port: 8080. there is no other difference. Maybe you can start playing from here.

I'm having these same settings for months now with different phone's. When a certain phone has the 'vodafone live' menu, you can instantly watch mobile tv and other stuff. When you get the same phone, but without the vodafone live software, you won't be able to watch mobile tv.

Well, at least not in belgium ... And this story goes for most of the phones ... When I use the exact same settings from a 'vodafone-live' phone in a non 'vfl' phone, it just get's me to another vflive page, without the possibility of using mobile tv ... marketing, right?

When discussing this problem months ago with an agent from the provider, called Proximus, i got the news that it just wasn't possible yet, to watch mobile tv with non 'vflive' phone's.

This can be possible when the vflive page's are checking the phone's software. So when it detects a vodafone live software, it enable's the mobile tv for you ... otherwise, it doesn't ...

Correct me if i'm totally wrong ...

This is not the case here in Switzerland as my M600i is definitely not a Vodafone phone. However, the operator has confirmed to me that they only allow phones that they sell themselves. They do check some identifier: either the phone is in the approved list (because they sell it) or it is not. If it is in the list, it will be able to connect because they cannot distinguish between different software versions.

So has anyone in the UK been able to set Vodafone Live! and used the Mobile TV yet?

I spent more time on it last night, including taking into account whats been said here, but still no luck

I haven't given up though as I'm dead keen to try the TV thing

btw, you have to call vodafone and get them to activate it on your account and then you also get the first month free to try it, so make sure you set it to the full package for that first month!
