um, how do you set the homepage in the M600/P990 browser?

I sent some settings to my phone yesterday trying toget vodafone live working and its set the homepage to vodafone live but I don't want that since it still doesn't work but I can find no option in the phone, nor in the manual, for resetting the homepage

did I miss something?

Please try removing the page from the bookmarks page, and tick te sonyericsson page instead..
Alternatively you could try geeting new settings as GPRS postpaid rather than VF Live postpaid..

well thats utter nonesense, but surprisingly, deleting the vodafone live bookmark has restored the original homepage!? (I didn't have to tick anything.)

What I notice from this is that "Sony Ericsson Startpage" is now the first listed bookmark so I am left wondering if the homepage is defined simply as the fist bookmark. Trouble is, if that is true, that there is no way to make any specific entry as the first one.

There surely has to be a more direct way of setting the home page. In my example here I have simply returned to the default home page but what if I want to choose my own homepage? ticking a bookmarked page does nothing and there is no option in the more menu to select the ticked entry as hmoepage, nor is there an entry in internet settings for homepage

very strange

I agree..There are some important ommissions here. Will it be the same on the P990? I guess it will..

I was as curious as you guys.. and posted the problem on the opera forum..

well.. the reply from the OPERA - device QA :

'There is no functionality for that, I'm afraid.

The home page is either the one pre-configured for the phone or a page set by the network operator.'

here is the link:

It's not possible to delete the SE-homepage so if you delete the the bookmark at the top (the one from the operator) it will end up as homepage.

Is it possible to sort the bookmarks from another software?

I have found one way to change start page but it is not ideal:
1. Download settings from your operator - in my case Telenor/Vodafone. You will be pointed to live.vodafone.xx.
2. Synchronize bookmarks with SE PC suite.
3. Find the bookmark in Internet Explorer on your PC.
4. You can edit the url here and change it to your personal favourite. Be careful not to change the title of the bookmark.
5. Synchronize again and the Vodafone Live bookmark will now point you to your personal favourite.

If you change the title of the bookmark, the SE default will appear again.

Another alternative is if you edit the name of the bookmark and put a 1 before it e.g 1esato forum index, then it should (as l don't yet own a UIQ3 phone, don't know for sure) put that bookmark at the top of your list. Hopefully it does work?

Talking of Vodafone Live. I rang the Vodafone help line yesterday to ask about it. Their reply was that the phone is not Vodafone Live compatible. They then went on to say that I can return the phone for a refund if I want.....!

I half heartedly tried to get it working by pointing the browser at live.vodafone.com. But I could not work out how to connect using WAP, and gave up. I only wanted to see the Sky TV trial....! Nothign else.

Cheers

I haven't actually played properly with either the m600 or p990 but i'll try and get Live! working on them when I do. I've configured enough none vodafone phones so it shouldn't be that differcult. We'll see though. Another option is if with a hacked browser is to send that the phone is a W900 or something
