I have just got myself a K800i I am just wondering if it is possible to use the flash on the camera like a torch like you can on the K750i. It was a usefull thing to have as it was so bright.

no, the K800 uses a proper (xenon) flash whereas the K750 just has an LED bright light.
you need only check the K800 white paper to confirm this
The k800 flash just flashes when you take the photo whereas the K750 can be left on constantly
they are different things

guys,the flash on the k800 is a xenon flash,yes the battery power is a factor but the flash cannot be kept more that a few seconds on because it will burn itself up

What a bummer, Another reason ill keep my K750I then.
Sony Ericsson have done it again, Lets hope they put a torch feature on the K800I replacment, A couple of super bright white leds aint gonna cost much.
The torch is bloody handy, Ive used it loads of times.
Also how do you shoot video in the dark if the K800I only has a flash?
I know shooting video isnt a K800I strong point, Seems this new phone is a let down.

The K800 is a fantastic phone, it just doesn't have 2 crummy LED's and its not the best for video, although in general terms at least a match for the K750i (the LED's did little to improve video clips in poor lighting in my use).
Granted the torch feature was handy, although the screen was typically bright enough to get you there, especially after the long winded way of turning on the light and then turning it back off.
Certainly the flash is less intrusive when taking pictures, than blinding all your mates for several seconds with 2 LED's while you composed your image.
