hey guys
just got a router and i cant get it connected
i plug the enet in , but it then says 'take ADSL cable from the existing modem and move it to the ADSL port on the router.'
i dont have an ADSL cable. I have a belkin F5D7632-4 router an ntl home broadband 'modem'. tbh i dont even know if this is the modem? it looks like it on the picture
Any help? thanks guys
edit: also, i found a 'dsl filter' in the box. It looks like where the other end of the ADSL cable can go. But theres another thingy to plug in somewhere... this is terrible

Does he ntl modem plug into your phone line to get the internet?
Ive never had cable but i think they use a seperate line which means you wont be able to use the belkin modem/router.

ADSL routers and cable lines dont mix.
its like using a nokia charger in a SE phone..
you need a cable wireless router...

I dont know much about wireless routers, but I know a pal of mine had problems setting he's up and he was on NTL. He ended up calling the people who made the router, via the call centre number on the packaging, and he was told that NTL have a different setup to someone who would be on an ADSL line. They talked him through the setup on the phone.

only cuz i made the opposite mistake and got a cable router for my ADSl line..

good good mate - its soooo confusing
- they need charts and stuff in shops to tell the 'dumb public' what its all about - well...they normally treat us as if we're dumb don't they? just look at it when i bought my phone in phones4u!!! they wrote the bloody phone number on the side of the box for me! - like i needed that! lol
sorry about that...everyone makes mistakes just the above was for the majority, not the minority if you know what i mean....i know im gonna get stung for that now
its a few years...but in like student flats where you have broadband required or something :S - do you have to provide your own router or is it over wi-fi normally?
