I bought a dsc-n1 8.1 MP about a week before i got my k800i and quite frankly i regret it. Although the touch screen on my camera is a neat touch i find that the k800i has a few features that a 'top-of-the-range' digital camera should have e.g the panoramic mode is amazing on the k800i and the face warp feature is just hilarious!!.
One of the reasons i bought my digital camera was beacuse of a few family/friends birthdays coming up but also because of the upcoming british motor show. I wanted to take some good pictures of some up and coming motors but although my camera is quite compact enough, why do i need to take two devices?.
Sonyericsson have really done well this time and apart from a few minor software issues (like not being able to set the keypad sound to click or tone without taking the battery out and in again!) i wish i'd got the k800i before the camera!
Are sony cybershot camera sales going to suffer in the future because of improved camera specs in mobile phones???

Even though the K800 camera is brilliant a normal digital cam is a lot better I have a DSC-V1 and theirs a lot of difference in the quality when you zoom in and I don’t have that bug you have

I agree, overall the digital camera is of better quality overall but the k800i, as a combined phone/camera/music player etc and of similar price (sim free) , the k800i is fantastic value for money.
I would probably only use my digital camera now and again but i would have to make a concious decision to take the camera out with me but the k800i goes with me everywhere!

Dude, did you really waste bandwidth posting such a rhetorical and non-sensical question? The k800i can no way compete with the DSC-N1 in the function department. I have both and I would take my N1 any day in a head to head comparison. I use the k800i when I do not feel like taking my N1 with and if I do not care about the photo quality. Sure 3 megapixels is nice but to compare this against the 8.1 megapixels of N1 is a no brainer.

Digital cameras can't be compared with camfones! You can even spot a minor difference when compared side-by-side, say a Sony 3.2 mp Cybershot with that of the K800i. Having the zoom feature on the digicams is another story! This message was posted from a T68i

I was simply making a point that although the n1's camera is obviously superior, the camera functions of the k800 are great for somebody that does not own a digital camera and if you are going to print out a standard sized picture, the difference is negligable.
If you were going to take a picture and print to a larger scale then i agree that the k800 would have problems.

Fair enough. Example: I use my k800i when I an out and about in downtown Helsinki and do not want to look like a tourist by dragging out the N1. I can pop off a few shots with the k8 and post them, email them, whatever. Now the N1 comes out when I am serious and want to take things worth remembering and editing.

Your point is well taken that the k8 is a good all arounder when you don't want to take the heavy artillery with you.

The K800i's camera doesn't even compare to a Nikon 3100 digicam, which was a lower end model a few years ago, and can be bought for about 50 dollars today.

However, what it does in such a small package is amazing on it's own
