Could it be that the forthcoming z550i has A2DP enabled via a firmware upgrade? I want to know this because I will be choosing between either the z710i and the z550i. I like the z550i better because of its design. But the z710i has A2DP out-of-the-box.

I don't think it can? I'm pretty sure it has to have the hardware as well as the software right?
If you want to listen to music then the W710 is a better choice anyway and a higher range model if you can live with the styling, have you seen one in the flesh yet as it may look better.

doesn't usually add new functionality that was not originally advertised at announcement time

so the end result is that is highly unlikely to get A2DP in any firmware upgrade
