Hi guys =)

I have wondered what this is, as I hear talk about CID 36, 49 and so on..

Why isn't it possbile to flash a CID49 phone with CID 36 firmware??

cheers, mero

SE ramped up the encryption on cid49 phones, this encryption algorithm is MUCH stronger than cid36 and hasn't been cracked yet. You can't change the CID unless you can remove the encryption first.

Talking of CID, is it possible that the CID of a phone will get changed, if the motherboard is changed?

Dang it, i' continously praying that the service guys don't change my CID to 49

yeah, that's a worry! Hope they don't. The cid is contained in the software, which is stored in the onboard memory so yes, swapping mainboards with a cid36 phone would do the trick.

@max_wedge: you're a pretty clever guy

Could'nt you research and write a program of some kind to change the CID...

By the way, what happens if i flash my phone with CID 36 files??

not that i actually know - but at a good guess....one it wouldnt work - and two it would probably turn into black and pink smoke (well...the colours would be my favourite )

basically i dont think it would work...but may work for some of the f/ws

if u were to flash ur cid36 phone with a cid49 flash it wouldnt work and u would need to use a technique called 'Testpoint' to re-flash the firmware back onto the handset.

Cid49 handsets can and prob will for a while only be able to be flashed by server based programs like wotanserver.com and/or davinciteam.com

Any Q's feel free to ask!

@voda_jon

See how you say "if u were to flash ur cid36 phone with a cid49 flash it wouldnt work", do mean the whole phone wouldn't work or it simply wouldn't let you do it?

At the moment, i'm researching using FAR manager on my K600i to change menus and such, but i've yet to buy a service cable. So I don't know the CID of my phone yet, but I know FAR doesn't work with CID49.

So here's my question.

If my phone was CID36, but then it was flashed with the latest firmware will the CID change to CID49? Or would it remain 36? Or could it be either?

The reason I ask is that the phone I have is second hand, so I have no idea what sort of alterations have been done to it, if any.

u would have to flash it with the CID 36 variant flash as if u tried to flash it with a cid49 one u would 'brick' ur phone i.e. its buggered, doesnt work at all would need to be sent back to SE for fixing!

Hi there people does any1 know of a thread tha perhaps explains all this sony ericsson jargon like cda and cid, im just trying to make sense of it all, i know cda means customisation data address and this basically identifies your phone as either a k800 or m600 or whatever but what is this cid51 or 52, ive flashed my phone twice and currently have R1KC001 CID52. Is it still possible to use seus with this firmware, and lastly what is strored in the erom? Thanks
