Hi,

The UK Vodafone manual on page 23 states that to be able to send an sms to an email account you need to record an email gateway number.

I've contacted Vodafone and they have no idea what this email gateway number is. Is it a phone number or an IP addess? has anyone obtained this 'number' and got the facility working?

I've also contacted SE but as expected they state I need to contact my network provider.

Thanks
Nick

Thanks for the replies. I managed to use the service offered by the http://www.sms2email.co.uk/ website.

This is a 3rd party service though and is not utilising the email gateway functionality included with the phone. Has anyone investigated this with Vodafone (or other UK providers)?

With sms2email you just put the email address first in the sms and send it to 07766404142

It is free but suffixes the email with the following text:

-------------------------------------

If you want to send emails from your mobile, send a message like this:
"the@emailaddress.com message to person" to 07766 40 41 42. Please see http://www.sms2email.com for more details.

When you send an email via sms to our gateway, the recipient will see that it is from yourmobilenumber@sms2email.com. You can arrange for email replies to be re-routed back to your phone as an sms message if you sign up for an (aq)sms account. To see how this clever stuff works, please goto
