Does charging the battery every day (even when it still has battery)affect the duration of the battery?...

i want to know that is true because i charge it every night even when it still has like 50% of the battery

@bagli- It is ideal to drain it prior to charging, to prolong its life, though not totally drain but at least you start seein' the yellow or RED battery icon, mostly in SE fone models. This message was posted from a P900

For Lithium ion / polymer like the ones used in SE phones, it is not ideal to drain the batteries prior to charging. In fact it will shorten the life of the batteries if you totally drain it. The internal circuitry of phones however handles this matter so you don't have much to worry about in this department. AFAIK, Li ion / pol batteries are totally safe to recharge anytime -- please check the link I posted above, you'll find a lot of references there to support this.

Exactly !! It depends on type of batt.. newer variants like Lithiom Ion dont have that cell structure.. can be charged anytime.. but preferably not fully drained.. While with the Older types.. If a particular cell within the batt was not discharged and charged back over time, those chemical etc would crystalize and render THAT cell useless. . Sorry, am not too good at explaining this.. Yup, "memory effect" only applies to old Nickel-Cadmium batteries. That's why you have to fully charge it before using and fully drain it before recharging to retain its capacity. SE phones (maybe all mobile phones) don't use Ni-Cd batteries anymore.

Yep, the ONLY disadvantage of Lithium batteries - they lose life cycle even when they aren't being used. So if a lithium battery has a life cycle of three years, then no amount of deep-cycling the battery will extend it's life cycle beyond that. Even if it sits on the shelf, at the end of three years it's dead. NiMH and NiCad could be conditioned during service which would extend the useable life cycle.

You cannot condition (also called deep cycle) a lithium battery. Once it's dead, it's completely dead.

On the up side, you can charge the battery at any point in the charge cycle without incurring a memory affect - this means that for the whole life-cycle of the battery, you need never worry one little bit about how often you charge it or how full it is when you put it on charge.

This makes keeping your battery always charged a lot easier than in the old days of memory affect.
