The promised January 2007 release of Microsoft Windows Vista looks unlikely to happen, according to several industry analysts.
Microsoft originally announced that Vista would be made available to certain corporate customers and OEM suppliers in December 2006, with the retail versions being made available to the general public in January 2007.
However, several industry analysts are certain that we won't see Vista until at least quarter 2 2007. Or, in other words, almost a year from now!
Even Bill Gates publicly stated that the chances of a January 2007 release stand at '80%'

Well, when they first started making it yeah. Realistically, it was expected to be released around about now.
On the bright side, at least they're not rushing it out like they did with ME, 2000 and XP.

Yeah, good point. But let's not forget that M$ products are essentially computing for the masses and Vista will ship with new PCs from pretty much the day that it's released. Auntie Doris wil be checking her ebay on Vista and not even know it!

Quite honestly i'm not too impressed with the beta releases till now and believe they (MS) have quite some work left to do....
At the moment the consensual opinion of the masses is that its just xp with a lot of eye-candy since ie7 and wmp11 (and even sidebar) can be obtained for xp as well.

In fairness, there's a lot of different stuff under the hood in Vista as well, it's not just XP with pretty bits. Much of Vista has been written from the ground up, not least DirectX 10. It's not a simple rehash of last year's release, surprisingly!

I don't mind really. And I don't see the rush either. Of course people like to upgrade a lot, which not only includes them getting new software but also includes paying money. XP is a fine product right now and is quite stable. 2007 or even 2008 is fine by me as long as its good and stable.
