I've saved a couple of trailers from the Apple site, and want to play them on my K800i so need to convert them to MP4.

However, I cannot get it to work.

I change the file settings to suit the phone (i.e. 320x240, 216 bitrate, 14fps etc)

Then when I encode, the process completes immediatley and the resulting MP4 which is created is tiny and useless.

I have even tried converting to MOV to AVI and then to MP4, but get the same result.

Any ideas, or alternative methods to play .MOV files on the K800 would be appreciated.

Cheers.

There are several codecs you can use within the mp4 container. Try using a h.263 codec in the mp4 container. I.e ipod and psp uses the mp4 container too but those vids cannot play on a SE phone unless you convert them(they use another codec). I have a M600i which supports h.263 too and I have tried several apps to encode vids to mp4 with correct codec and my favorite to do so is "WinXMedia WMV MP4 Converter". I have tried xilisoft, imtoo and others but they didn't play on my phone. To get the best quality you can use vdub and do all the conversion manually, there is a guide here somewhere but i'm to lazy and want to use a one click solution .

Converting to 3gp will also work.

Try using YASA MOV to MPEG WMV AVI Converter instead of xilisoft to convert mov to avi. I use it to convert mov to a lot of video formats without any problem.
