Right, a sorry story first! I recently bought a brand new Vario on here and thought it was brilliant! Unfortunately, my special needs son saw me using the stylus on the screen and did the same - with a set of keys! Now I have a fantastically good phone with a damaged LCD. It will need replacing.
I can either sell the phone to someone who wants it as it is either for repair or perhaps leave it, or perhaps somone can point me in the
direction of a repairer who will charge me less than the £110 I've seen.
The phone is obviously worth more than 2/6. I would prefer to keep it but open to offers.
It is unlocked. Everything is really as new.
Thanks, a very hissed off
Doug

That I have a problem with! I swopped this for an MDA Exec and a bit of cash.
I have no real idea but the repair will cost about £100ish. Anyone in the know any ideas? I'm toying with the idea of getting the screen replaced as apart from that, it was new and perfect. So it won't be going for some rediculously low amount.

I think as it is the plastic on the top of the screen that has been damaged and the glass underneath is intact (it still works fine), I think I will try and get it repaired.
Anyone any ideas of a decent, reasonable repairer please? I have come up with a price of £110 + £4 delivery so far. Anyone better that?

what id do is buy a faulty unit or a new screen and just swap screens, be cheaper to do it yourself to.

If you want i may know someone who can help

Hi. Be interested in any information you have please. As long as it's less than what I was quoted, I will be happier.
If I got a screen, wouldn't know where to start myself.

Don't feel too bad Doug.. I have a son with Down's syndrome who is now 11.
In that time I have had countless phones dropped down the toilet, a MDA compact thrown across the room, 3 remote controls, 2 video recorders, a 32" widescreen tv, a dvd player, games console, 2 radio alarm clocks and countless other items of value destroyed.

Saying that I wouldn't change him for the world

I see some screens on Ebay for around £70 delivered so if you are not happy fitting yourself then I personally don't think £110 is that bad a price.

Hi Mike,
Darlings they are....... All he was doing was copying me, I think. Must teach him to use a stylus though instead! I have calmed down now though. Shame really, I only got this about a week ago and I love it. I swop phones life anything but I finally seemed to be happy with this. Sods Law! It is still unable, I just hate damaged screens, if you know what I mean.
Stay good,
Doug

Well it may be worth sticking it on Ebay as it is and letting fate take a hand. You should get a fairly good price for it anyway and then just buy yourself a new one. I got these 2 in the last week

Edit

For what I think are fairly good prices.

Im playing with the M5000 at the moment .. bit chunkier than what im used to though.

Another question? I just googled trying to find instructions for fitting a new screen and came up blank.
I have found a screen on eBay for £65 and the seller will fit for £20 plus postage. So it comes to about £88 as long as he is genuine.
Anyone on here know how to do it or would do it for me please? I can read instructions but might need diagrams!!
Thanks again
