What are the prerequisites to be able to update the firmware-version of your mobile phone by using the SEUS (
Sony
Ericsson
Update
Service (via the Windows-application)) and/or by using the FOTA (
Firmware update
Over
The
Air (via the mobile phone))?
It appears that it is not only the current firmware-version that is the prerequisite, but something else too. Does the CDA identifier has something to do with it? Some people say it has.
I am asking this because as far as I have understood it, some people have been able to update their mobile phones firmware-versions, while some people have not been able to do it, even if they have the same firmware-version. However, I might be wrong.
I must admit that I am both a bit confused and definitiely curious.
Any clearification is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

CDA customisation DOES get checked besides the FW version.. And if I can take the liberty to shoot in the dark, SEUS may be tracing IP (geog'al location) too and decide thus..

Ok. Thanks.
What does CDA stand for? I know that it has to do with localization of the mobile phone, but what does it stand for?
Not even Google is of much help in this case...

It stands for Customization DAta or something. It's the country- or operator-specific customization of a phone (including bundled themes, settings, limitations and such).
