Hi all

I want to add an Ebay search RSS to my K800's RSS reader but the URL is REALLY long and will take me ages to type.

I've tried saving the url as a web address on a contact and syncing up but it only transfers part of the URL...same with storing it in a Note in outlook and syncing that...less than half the address is synced (must be a space issue).

I've managed to access my gmail account from my phone but then I can only vist the link which is an unrecognisable type...it won't let me save the link as an RSS.

Anyone have any idea how to get around this???

send it to yourself in an email, and open the email on your phone... I do that wil all my rss feeds, saves typing them in

haven't got direct email setup...only gmail via a borwser : m.gmail.com (wap)

What email are you using...your provider or an third party email (if so is it easy to configure)?

Also, how does the phone know to open the link as an RSS rather than in a browswer which is what was happening to me???

mine's my personal email account on my domain name via 1and1 i just choose to forward the message,and use the copy&paste function to copy the rss address, and paste it in the rss app

worked for me...had to copy&paste it twice though, the first gave me an error saying some characters couldnt be pasted, so i copied the email, pasted into a text, then copied from the text to the rss app

Hi mate

Sorry, can you be more specific about what you did and what phone apps you used...I can't copy/paste the link from my email cause my email is viewed via browser rather than true email (if you follow me?)

Okay, I got my email working (whoo hoo).

As per your experience I could only paste part of the address...and once I'd done that, I couldn't go back to the RSS and add the second part?

How did you do it???

Okay, here's what i did:

1.> send myself the email with just the rss URL.
2.> Open the email on the phone
3.> Choose to forward it
4.> Choose to edit it
5.> Mark & Copy (mark the entire URL, copy it)
6.> close the email
7.> create a new sms
8.> Paste the link into the sms
9.> Mark & Copy (mark the entire URL, copy it)
10.> Close the sms, save if you want (might make it easier if it doesnt work the first time)
11.> open the RSS app
12.> Add a feed
13.> use the menu, paste the url (if you get a message about being unable to use the entire url, ignore it, the phone seems to adjust the url to work correctly)

That should be it

Note: Pasting into an sms is useful should you wish to store the URL on your SIM or whatever for future use, or to forward to someone. It also strips out any spaces or unprintable characters that may have been inserted via the email client.
