The W800 flight mode is officially for Walkman use only, however there is a trick to using the camera in flight mode, and to complicate things it works differently in different firmware versions.

Here's what I've found for different firmware. Try both methods and see which works on your cell:

R1AA008, R1BC002
In the start-up menu, lock the handset and open the lense cover.

In these firmwares, the camera can be used in flight mode as long as you don't use the walkman function. As soon as you use the walkman, the camera can no longer be used, even by exiting back to the startup menu and locking the handset. You need to restart the phone before you can use the camera again.

R1N035
In the startup menu or from within the Walkman Now Playing screen, lock the handset and open the lense cover.

On R1N035 firmware, you can use the camera in flight mode even if you have used the Walkman.

On first appearances it seems obvious to use R1N035 firmware, however there is one main issue with R1N035, and that is the MS Duo corruption issue that some experience with R1N035 firmware.

I'm going to give R1N a go, just because I really want this ability, and if I can avoid the corruption issue all will be well.

It's also possible that R1L002 can do the same as R1N, however R1L has the bluetooth permission bug whereby you have to confirm each file transfer - very annoying! I don't want to go back to that.

If I get around to trying R1L002 I'll post the results here.

Okay R1N035 had transfer bug, but is gone now after a master reset.

Okay, update. I had some troubles with R1N035. Transfer problems occasionally, but more often just problems with the phone dropping off and not being re-detectable without reboot.

Too much hassle. I'm now using R1BC002 and the full flightmode via vkp firmware patch, ONLY GSM radio is disabled, EVERYTHING ELSE works!!!!

Don't need R1N035 anymore, and W800 official flightmode still useful for MP3 player battery saving

Is there any way to do this on a w810 since it doesn't have a lens cover? I'm having a real hard time searching for this answer on the forum
