I have decided to buy a voice recorder for university so i can record lectures as i am rubbish at taking notes quickly so this way i can record everything and save it to my laptop.
I only really want to spend around £30-£40 and it has to be sony, no compromiing there, i have seen a few and just wanted peoples opinions on what to get if it had a memory card slot that would be great. I would also like it to be pretty slim if possible.
Just wondered what makes and models people had here, if anybody has them at all.
Thanks

if you don't take your laptop I would say make sure you buy the best digital one you can get, that way you can transfere it to your mac and lable each one on your mac, but do not buy a tape one as it will be expensive in the long run
why not use your mac?

I will be getting a digital one definately. I will probably take my macbook with me on some occasions but only to do work on not to record lectures as it is too bulky to take with me everyday.
I want something small and portable then i can just transfer it over to my macbook once i get home you see. I had a look at the ICD-B100 which seems in my price range.

I'm not really sure about that one, I think in this situation it maybe best to ignore brand name and go for a more suitable kind, olympus are a leading brand in voice recorders, although sony are good they may be more expensive and have less features....

just had a better thought, why not buy one of the new mics for your ipod? Surly that wold be better because you then can import them right into itunes etc?

Yeah i thought about that but what happens when the new ipod comes out it may be useless then.

its unlikely that apple will change the dock connector on the new one, and it may be possible that wou won't update to the latest ipod right away

Yeah that is true just wondering about the quality though if griffin released an italk for the 5th generations ipods then i would buy one but they haven't so far and it has been out ages so i doubt they will. Will have a think about it, would save the hassle of having to maybe convert before i import to itunes etc etc.

Well im off to uni later this summer and was wondering about this issue of taping lectures. Does anybody know if its worth it or not, and is taking a laptop in everyday worth it?

I know i won't be taking my laptop in much at least that is what i say now. I am sure i will take it in occasionally, will have to see when i start.
But recording lectures is a great idea i think, that way you don't have to worry about missing anything and can listen over it and take detailed notes at home.
I for one always try to take detailed notes and miss everything or end up not writing enough so a voice recorder is a good idea for me.
