I got a reply from my bank regards the letter i sent them. I need to pay them £5 to move forward. They call it an administration charge.
Maybe i should charge them for my time too? Reckon that would stand up?

What is the letter you sent them and did you send them all your statements?

ADvised them i want them to give me all the charges i have received and the reasoning behind them with the amounts.
Told them that if i didnt have a letter within 28 days i would look to seek further action....bla bla.
But i know it will take them several letters...
have also known someone else to do this and when they paid him his money back they also tried to close his bank account. Luckily thats resolved

Seems like to much hard work to me unless your really bad with money and have been charged loads. Think i have been charged twice in my life so £40 ain't going to bother me lol.

I am not implying there are loads of charges on my account however the account is 15 years old and as a student there were tough times.... I cant deny there have been some - but the charges I am fighting back for are the charges for example when:
You go perhaps say £5 overdrawn so they charge you £28 for that. Which takes you more overdrawn. So when you rectify the problem, the following month they charge you again for have gone overdrawn the month before - which ultimately they made you do.
Its the priciple of the matter not how some people may go overdrawn by. The arguement for writing to them and asking for them to clarify the amounts - it doesnt cost the bank £28 to tell someone they have gone overdrawn and then charge them stupid money.
You are right though for the sake of £40 quid it might not be worth it. But all the while people let them do things like this then they will continue to do it.
And Haynes - its not a dig at you
