I ordereed cheap HPM-70 replacements from Ebay.

The cool thing is that I can fit my regular earphone into it.....

Very cool.

All inclusive shipping to India costs 9 dollars or so - well worth it

True. It may be chinese made, but the fact does'nt change that I got 2 of them for about 10 dollars shipped. And I'm using them and they are good enough.

For those who would like a cheaper alternative to the overpriced Sony earphones and more importantly, one which has a slot to fit your own headphones in (or to attach to a car stereo for example), search on Ebay.

shipping cost more because this is one of there tactics. This handsfree is extremely fragile and when broken you can't send it back, you will have to pay for their delivery again.

I was debating buying one of these instead of HPM70, but in the end I decided at £5 shipped it was not good value versus the official product.

I would however be interested to see a user review on its build quality.
