Hello to all here at Esato,

I'm about to purchase an M600 ( decided on it over the E61 )
but I would first like to get some info from anyone who uses
the phone on the US TMOBILE NETWORK ....

What sort of dataplan/phoneplan would I need to take
advantage of this phone's capabilities ? ? ?

Also, is there a way to make PUSH EMAIL work on this phone
here on TMOB/US ? ? ?

please do lend any and all advice . thanks in adv.

I've been using the M600i in the Bay Area for about 1 month now on TMO. I use the DataViz RoadSync (ActiveSync) client software to get MSFT Direct Push e-mail from my company's Exchange Server. Pretty easy to setup, does have a few bugs still, but I'm working with a DataViz engineer to help sort out some of the issues.

Blackberry client software for the phone is now availalbe. TMO also has the new Blackberry Connect (2.0 I believe?) that has Push e-mail from their hosted server or you can connect to your company's Blackberry Enterprise Server if they allow it.

As for data plans, if you talk to TMO reps. they will tell you because the phone is not supported, you have to get the $29.99 unlimited data plan to operate Push e-mail. Don't believe them; instead, I use the $19.99 unlimited Blackberry Data Plan without any problems. For some reason, on my Nokia E61 I could get away with the $5.99 unlimited T-Zones plan but on the M600i, unlimited Blackberry Plan seems to be the bare minimum.

Can't thank you enough for the insight.

Let me ask you — Would I be able to access POP and Webmail accounts
with the Unlimited TZONES account ?

I'm a little unclear on the difference in functionality btw .
Blackberry/Push-Email . and regular old POP/SMTP or Webmail accounts . . .

I was hoping to fogoe the extra 19.99 per month,
actually I had been intently looking at the E61 because
of the WIFI capability. But once I held it I just couldn't bring myself
to buy it.

THANKS AGAIN for your help and advice .
I'd trust a fellow user more than the TMOB Phone Reps - - -

Peace . Lex

Yes, with T-Zones you would be able to access POP and webmail and the $5.99 plan is sufficient.

With regards to "Push" mail, it requires a constant GPRS (at a mimimum) connection to a middle server, ie. MSFT Exchange Server or Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES). Essentially, the M600i is talking to the server asking if there are any changes in your mailbox (e-mail, contacts, calendar, etc.). If a change occurs on the server, the change is "pushed" or automatically downloaded onto the phone. Conversely, if you make a change on the phone, it will make the same change on the mail account server.

With webmail, you have to manually access the web account, enter user/password settings each time, and the mail stays on the web account server. That being said, I do know if you upgrade a Yahoo account (I believe $10/year), you can set the M600 to automatically poll the account every 5 minutes and download any new e-mail. However, I believe this is unidirectional: any changes you make on the handheld will not reflect on the Yahoo account server.

Obviously this is an oversimplification but I hope it helps.

How does one go about setting up their TMO account to use BBC?

Although I am not using Blackberry Connect, I know how to set it up for TMO's Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) but not for the Blackberry Enterprise Service (BES):

1) make sure you have $19.99 add-on Blackberry data plan
2) Download and install BB Connect .SIS file from here:
http://www.matrixcentro.com/micro/blackberry/se.php
3) Login to your TMO account and change your IMEI number where you initially configured the BIS e-mail account. Note: you may have to talk with a level 2 service rep to get service books sent to your M600i

For more information, I suggest looking at this forum:

Good luck!
