You have to run Windows for upgrading, cos it is still the OS for personal users.

When I updated my S700, I did it through the SE website which used a java client to do the update. I did this on windows, but being a java plugin on a web page you could give it a go.

Oh dear. Well, we need to get a petition going for a cross-platform binary. Most of my friends and colleagues have SEs, and we're either on Mac or Linux, and I'm sure we're not the only ones.

I have a K800 and an M600.
The K800 with built in online update is no problem.
For the M600 I have a windows in a vmware virtual machine. But it has failed every time i updated the phone. It stopped on 90% and the phone became dead. But this could be because the useless software quality in M600.
SEUS for LINUX is a must. Until i find a good phone that runs LINUX...

i'm not shure but you micht can try updating using wine.
install internet explorer, install dcom (found on microsoft website), update to latest flash and sun java. not shure if this could do the trick.
if you find isntalling the software a pain in the ass .. ? .. have a look at codeweavers office which is a very handy tool when it comes to installing windows software on a linux desktop.
2nd option which works for shure is using vmware to installa a virtual machine which uses windows.
just make shure your usb driver's are working correctly.
i used to have some trouble with usb2.0
good luck

I think the biggest problem would be drivers... I'm not sure if we could install the usb flasher drivers with wine
