hi, i got a w800i and it got shot while i was at paintball, it hit the speak on the front (the one that you use when making a phone call not the one on the back) and the paint got in there and dryed, i scrapped it out when i got home but the speaker doesnt seem to work any more, i dont know if it just has a bit of paint still in there or its jsut complitly broken, but is there a way i can easily clean the speaker or replace it? if so where would i look to buy a new speaker from?

Best place to look is good ol' Ebay. I got a replacement speaker/loudspeaker unit for £3 plus a bit of postage off there, though you may need a bit of experience in taking phones apart to do it without damaging anything, or there's a very good guide to taking a W800i apart over on SE-NSE.

There are atleast couple threads with disassembly instructions. You can buy parts from service centers also. If you manage to clean all the paint and still no sign of life -> take to service center and play dum, you do have warranty... *wink*

thanks, i was actually going to ask if there was a guide to taking the phone apart, i think ill try taking hte speaker out and cleaning it cos i dont see how paint can permanently damage a speaker, cos a speaker is just electro magnets.

i still do have warrenty and insurance but i dont want the hassel of sending the phone off for a couple of weeks lol

There is a guide at SE-NSE forums for opening the housing (with pics) here:
http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showforum=50

I think that "D750/K750/W800 Opening the Housing II" is the easier of the two guides to follow, but the "II" thread is not 'pinned', so sometimes you have to look for it (however, the "opening the housing I" thread is pinned).

I was considering replacing my speaker too, but it just had some lint in it that I had to blow out. cnn.com or something like that (not the news place, I couldn't find it on a google search, but you can find it here somewhere) has the replacement speakers for like $8 or 8euros or something like that.

Good luck,
chris
