> K800i ugly duckling?

Hi there, I like the camera phones from SonyEricsson. I had the S700i for two years, now I sold it and bought the K800i. The new one is technically much more interesting that the S700i, but when I first opened the box with the K800i in it, I was frightened, its black, heavy and it has an impossible camera protection, you can't even put the phone on it's back. I think for having a nice new phone I should have bought the K610i.....what do you think about the beauty of the K800i? Is there no nicer phone with K800i possibilities?

Don't worry - It grows on you

When I go back to my K750i which until 3 months ago I knew to be the best in class - it looks dated and small

its not a nice fone. really dont know, who designed that crap cam slider, the fone cos of it looks really amorph. dear se, its still a fone, not a sony cyber cam, so keep your cheap design in the sony section, no need to ruin the fones with it imo way too much sony influence is in the se models now a days. no need for that.

I agree. When I first went from K750i to K800i, I wasn't too sure about it. It felt rather big and clumsy compared to the K750i. However, it has totally grown on me. It has to be remebered that the K750i is quite a tiny phone of that sort of layout, so although the K800i is bigger, it doesnt make it that big when put into perspective. You also have to remember what has been packed into it. Admittedly, the camera lense cover does add bulk, but the horizontal sliding means it opens a lot less when its in your pocket. Also, whenever I go back to the K750i, the main thing that hits me is how significantly better the K800i screen is.
Overall it took me about a week to really appreciate the design of the K800i, and although not entirely perfect [will any phone ever be??] I like it very much

well, there is samsung D900, beautiful phone, slim and with a 3mp cam with Auto Focus. But the camera is not as good as the K800i, no radio, not as good sound in mp3, can't set mp3's as sms tone, and it's a samsung, wich is a problem in itself for us who have gotten spoiled with SE's great UI. But it's not a bad alternative while we wait for a K800i in a better case. Can't really come up with any other phone right now that has the 3mp cam AND design worth a 2nd look other than D900, maybe someone else know of a better alternative?
Oh, W810 is great looking and has walkman and great cam, not a bad choice in my opinion.

When I saw the pictures of the K800 I thought it looked so boring (but I got it as it was the best phone around at the time), when I opened the box I was surprised how classy it looked and think it looks good and a most people who I showed it to liked it, so you will always get some people who like it and some who dont
