my 512mb stick is only 455mb, i know you usually should expect less then 512mb but my mmc on my nokia had 490mb. Why is it 455mb, why so less??

That's normal..455 is large enough for 300 photos in 3.15 MP.

They're changed the "secure media" hardware control on M2 / Micro cards which requires extra card space to store hardware security...
MMC cards don't support secure media in hardware, thus there's more space on those cards. But MMC card are on the way out...
"Secure Media" is protected files like paid downloaded ringtones and games.
