> Error with p900 messages

Im a p900 user for quite a while now but the messaging software is starting to annoy me.
When I open the flip to write a message, no matter what I write the phone says "0 / 1" meaning that the text is completely blank (yet there is writing there) and it only shows how much writing I have put after I hit SEND.
Is there any way to fix this because its really starting to get on my nerves (even after I did a master reset and it kept doing it)?

Quick problem tho, how do you get to the service menu? Ive never had to use it.
Also, how does a reset from the service menu help when a master reset doesnt?
Does the master reset do something different from the service menu?
