I assume it is the same as the P900. Controlpanel/display/screen tab under screensaver check None. then under power tab power save check clock.

no, while there are some similarities with earlier P series, there is no clock screensaver and even the steps to get into the screen saver options is different with an extra step of device after conitrol panel

in there is only the choice to set screen saver type from none, default (which is the 3d rotating cubes seen on other SE models), picture or slideshow

however, assuming you have the keyboard lock on, all you have to do it touch a key and the screen lights up and you can see the time

I would like to have a time screen saver where it also shows missed sms and calls in the next firmware upgrade.

Right now, my screen saver goes pitch black after the "default" screen saver and I am not sure whether my P990i is powered up.

I agree with the above poster, after the timeout on the screen saver...i have mine set to the default one with the cubes rotating...itjust goes pitch black. Sometimes hard to know if the phone is on, also the led indicator doesnt seem to blink unless the phone battery is very low...would have been a nice feature if the led blinked green now and again to let you know the phone is on.

By the way what is that LED there for exactly??, is it just a low battery indicator??.
As you can tell i havent read the manual but then i never do, much more fun figuring out things by yourself hehe.

The LED aside from being a low batt indicator serves as a Msg and call indicator. It blinks everytime you have unread msgs and missed calls..

@spawn: are you figuring things out for yourself by asking us? . You could just ask the handbook

yeah, when all else fails, read the instructions

I have to agree that I have also learnt a few things from the manufacturer (wh would have guessed), so while waiting for my P990i I downloaded the pdf manual and went through it - some interesting shortcuts

@masseur

i have always thought that the screensdaver would eat up extra battery, hence turn it off, but the black/blank screen is not too user friendly. Have you any first hand results re battery life and screensaver usage?
