Hi P990 users,

Just wanted to touch base and see whether anyone experiences signal strength jumping around. I've sat still in and walked through places that, using other fones (Treo, O2 Atom, Nokia, etc.), the signal locked in and stayed that way.

With P990, it can go from four bars to two bars and back...seems to jump around a lot. I wonder whether the internal antenna is damaged or perhaps hyper-sensitive.

What do you think? Does this phenomenon happen with your fone?

Cheers,
Brendan

se fones ( just as once ) have real time aerials, thatswhy are the bars constantly moving ( nokia use boosters, so they show almost always the same rec quality )

I see the same with my P900, but regardless of two or four bars, the reception is excellent. Even with one bar I can hold a crystal clear conversation.

Cheers for the confirmation. I gave my P910 away back in Feb, '05...sorely missed it over the interim, but am very, very pleased with P990. Got the ROM upgrade to work and am fully confident that more improvements will be made in subsequent ROM upgrades! It's a great fone

I find my visible signal a bit weaker then on my K750i. On the same spot at my desk at home....with the same operator (Telenor "Vodafon") I have 1-2 bars less in reception then on my K750i. I did firmware upgrade last night. No visible difference.
Anybody else who have noticed this?

I've found that with every SE phone I've had since the K700i, as Boba says it's because the signal strength indicator is refreshed more often than other makes like Nokia.

@701:
I bought mine in Sweden (Malmö to be exact). Bought it at The Phone House. Big mobilephone chain in Sweden. Might not be the cheapest though...but I did NOT care...hehe
