smart phones/PDA's atm

std phones just dont have the speed to do this do some resaerch on the java codeing website and it states that the S60 and smart phone series all have the power but your normal phone IrDA and CPU speeds just dont mtach those needed for IrDA remote controls

my cousin tested it out with a nokia 6600 as a remote on my tv.. it works like a charm but sadly, as mentioned, only PDA and smart phone are capable on this at the moment

nope sorry even advance as the W and K series r the IrDA and CPU cant handle the speed requierd by IR remotes (its not dedicated) java app to IR is very slow (compared to dedicated software/actule remotes)

There was some irda app in getjar not sure it will serve the purpose.

It would have been handy if we have such an app.

unfortunatly like i said physicly not possable in the current gen of phones maybe few years from now... mind u by then i think TV's will be controlled by Wifi or BT
