Hi all,

Just something i needed to ask but does anyone else's P990i randomly disconnect from the net. What i mean is that im browsing the net via my tmobile 3g reception, it seems to connect fine but if i leave it for a min or 2...i find that i have to re-connect back to the net again. Seems like it just disconnects itself if its idle the connection.
Mind you this is only with my 3g connection, havent tried it with my wifi yet...
So can anyone check to see if this happens on their unit as i was under the impression that it stays connected to the gprs/3g connection and only downloads data when you ask it to.

Would like to hear from anyone else who has this same problem as i do or is it supposed to work like that??

Also how can i get rid of the pop up box that asks me which account to use when connecting to the net and email...another minor annoyance i find. Anyway to get rid of those silly boxes or is that how the p990i works.

Cheers

Hehe which is what i was asking the other day but no one replied. As far as i can see there isnt a time out feature other than if you go into the internet accounts and click on the groups tab then enter the settings page for that. In there there is a dial up timeout feature and ive set it to never but that doesnt seem to work....

Even set the priority to my tmobile internet account as well but it keeps asking me which connection should i use....hmmmm

Also under preferred mode theres auto, PS and CS...anyone know what PS and CS means??.

At a guess I'd say they were Packet Switched (GPRS/3G) and Circuit Switched (i.e. dialup).

Ahh makes sense Morley thanks.

Looks like its working now i hope...just opened a web page and let idle for the past couple of mins and it hasnt disconnected me yet. Dunno how that worked, well if it is working but all i did was re-start the phone lol. Guess ill set it at PS just for good measure as i dont need to use the dialup.

Oh well going to let it sit at a webpage and see if it does disconnect me at all....now just have to figure out why my emails arent being checked at an hourly interval as i have my gmail account set at.

On my P990i, wifi is pretty solid in that I never seem to lose connection as long as I'm in range. Now if only I could find someone with a PC so I can update the firmware to get the phone more solid.

Well after a night of playing around with it, it still keeps disconnecting me from the net.
By the way people I AM TALKING ABOUT THE GPRS/3G CONNECTION and not the WIFI connection part.

So im at a loss as to why this keeps happening, everytime it disconnects and i go to another page it keeps popping up that silly box asking me which connection to use and as i said before i have my tmobile connection as the number one connection...surely the phone isnt that stupid not to realise that but yet keeps asking me.

Ive had to re-set my tmobile connection from scratch but still keeps disconnecting me and i dont know if this is supposed to happen because no one seems to be able to read and understand what im trying to say. So would be awfully helpful if someone could try their 3g/gprs connection and see if they get that silly pop up box asking which connection/group to use and see if they get disconnected from the net.

So can anyone test this for me with their gprs/3g connection and report back with thier findings. I would really appreciate that..really i would.

Well finally managed to figure out what was wrong, seems like theres a box in the internet options called connection dialog box that was ticked...soon as i unticked it the pop up box that keeps asking me which internet group i should use to connect has disappeared so yippeeeee \\o/

also gmail now downloads automatically at the set intervals i have it set at.
