I can recall in the days of the multitude of "what do we want in the P1000" threads etc that landscape mode was was of the mode asked for features

I find it quite dissapointing that in fact the operating system doesn't seem to support it natively and its only implemented in Opera and I'm finding I'm not using landscape in Opera anywhere near as much as I do on windows mobile device which offer full device functionality in landscape as well as portrait modes.

I also find it a tad frustrating to have to keep reverting the device in my hand back to portrait so I can type something and then back to landscape to continue browsing

So, my questions are:-

Is anyone making much use of landscape? and are you dissapointed there is no more support for landscape on the M600 and P990 in other applications and menu

I'm disappointed that PDF+ allows me to choose landscape but then when I attempt to view a PDF, it crashes. Also, since I made it a permanent setting, it now crashes all the time. Wonderful!

Nope cant say im using it, i prefer opera in portrait mode to be honest. Ive tried landscape and its ok but i find it hard to navigate ie scrolling down the page..u have to use the stylus whereas in portrait mode you can use the jog dial to scroll up and down.

Got to agree with you Masseur - the main gripe I have is that like you have found it is very annoying to keep turning the phone around if you ever want to type someything in. With the (IMO) oversized fonts and GUI elements of UIQ3 too, I think the landscape mode as things stands is pretty useless. Particularly with Opera I find it preferable to use full screen portrait mode.
After havng had the TyTN I've got to say the way it works in portrait/landscape mode is just about perfect.

when i use landscape mode in OPERA:
1. I've a good GPRS reciption (so i don't need to look at the blinking globe)
2. I'm not running AGILE MESSENGER in background (so i don't need to switch between applications)
3. I'm not browsing more than two pages at any given time (it's quite frustraiting to click the small icon on ri8-top 2 switch between pages every time)
4. I'm reading a really big article (like a review from mobile-review)

other times I use potrait mode. hope u've got ur answer .

Quote from www.bysamyr.fr :

"To launch an application in landscape mode, you have to:
Launch your application
Launch RotateMe and select 'More' -> 'Landscape'
Switch to your application, without going trough 'Menu' "

This is odd to use. Also, why do you need landscape view in any app in the first place, as long as the keyboard layout is on portrait?
