The Textable iBall (why, oh why, does everything have to start with i?) from
Spacewriter takes a SIM card, receives text messages, and shows them on a glowing, 11" diameter crystal ball. It can hold up to 64 one or two-line messages (SMSes are restricted to 160 characters, anyway) and show them in one of several colors: red, green, blue, turquoise, mauve, yellow, or black...The only problem with this piece of gadgetry is the price currently at: $940.

Sounds like a cool little toy. I'd like to get one, stik in a free SIM, then text to it, just to display some personal messages for myself. I could read, Merry Christmas at Christmas.

the colours look very tacky tho.. I dont think its worth the money, especially since the text messages come out on 2x64 (=128, when the max for text is 160). But yea, these kinda things do make nice decorations, I have something like it, altho it only tells the time, a display message, or act as a caller id machine for a land line telephone.
