I live in India where 3G has not been started by any network provider yet.
But 3G phones are sold. I wanted to know whether 3G in a phone has any effect on the GPRS surfing, downloading speed or not that is, is it faster than phones without 3G?

No, when using just the gprs on 2.5G it is the same for every phone.
