There is however a great application called (insert name here) that lets you restore single files at the click of a button. Really easy to use and works well, but obviously, as the absent-minded person I am, I forgot the name of it when I switched to Mac.
If anybody knows, please let me know so I can use it in VPC6.

fundamentally, UIQ2 applications can't be used on UIQ3. Even the SE PC Suite is not compatible and SE has even detailed the steps to transfer PIM info from P910i to P990i, involving using both version of PC suite.
so no point thinking of backup on P910i and restore on P990i
