> K800i Queries On T-Mobile
Bookmark topic
Hi all. After searching through numerous forums regarding the K800i this is so far the most active and informative so I am priviledged to be apart of it.
I got my K800i two days ago as an upgrade from T-Mobile. I love it except a few exceptions that I hope someone can clear up for me. I'll try and make this as short as possible:-
1) How can I delete protected files such as T-Mobile theme?
2) I have the R1CF001. Is that the latest and if there was a newer version, will someone post a headsup on the release?
3) Is it best to get Opera Mini (v2) or stick with standard browser.
4) (Quite worrying) In video mode, the screen looks VERY pixelated, it's worse than anything i've ever seen. I've tweaked the settings to give my the highest quality but it just looks real bad. I admit when playing it back it's better and smoother but is this software or harware. Plus it should be much better video quality. Does this rely on the firmware?
Really do appreciate your time for reading this, I guess keeping it short became out of the question hehe =/
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Esato, I hope, you'll enjoy it here!
I suppose, your phone is T-Mobile branded ? In that case you can't update it with the newest generic software, you'll have to wait until there's a new release of the T-Mobile version.
As for your other questions, I hope, someone else will answer them, I don't have my K800i yet, probably the postman brings it to-morrow

Yep it's T-Mobile branded. What's interesting too is that it has MobileTV. Haven't quite used it yet but hopefully it's got Sky =)
As for the T-Mobile version, would that be on there website or would SEUS automatically pick it up and update accordingly?
Ahhh well I hope you do it get it tomorrow. Oh and don't forget to order your M2 =D.
Thank's for the quick reply though and warm welcome.

You can use SEUS for updating your branded phone, it recognizes the version (Vodafone, T-Mobile, etc.) and updates accordingly, or you'll get the message, that you already have the newest version, because there's not always a branded version of the newest software available.
I experienced this with my Vodafone branded V600i, but the phone works fine, so it didn't bother me. My new K800i (network KPN The Netherlands) is locked, but not branded

.
As for the M2, my provider includes a voucher for a free one (512 mb) in the package

Yea I did the SEUS and it said im using the latest so I assume it's fine.
As for the camera, that's still really bugging me. It's really pixelated.
Can someone else confirm this please, I hope it's not a defect in my phone =/

The reason why your video's are so pixelated is because the k800's videos have the same resolution as the k750's videos. (176 x 144)
Yet, the k800's screen resolution has been increased. (320x240)
So it's showing a low resolution video on a higher resolution screen.. resulting in visible pixels.
I guess

Very interesting, it could be well so. The playback is much better although it does need abit tweaking.
So what about Opera Mini v2, that better than the standard web browser K800i has?

Head over to the DA Vinci
http://www.davinciteam.com/ or wotanserver
http://www.wotanserver.com/ to de-brand your tmobile phone, i did it a few months ago on my tmobile branded W810i and it went without a hitch...cost me about 8 euros i think so not bad value.
It just takes off the rubbish that Tmobile put on there, but it does not unlock the phone to other networks. It only puts the firmware back to the generic SE one.
Unlocking wise??, either go to a high st mobile phone shop that does unlocking or ask Tmobile to give you an unlock code.

Yea I would do that and debrand it but I'd still want to be able to update via SEUS. If im not mistaken, I think I read somewhere that once you go down that route, you can't update via SEUS OR it reverts you back to the branded firmware meaning i'll get T-Mobile issued firmware... I think!
Another worry is losing my MobileTV that I seem to have, which is quite cool. Also using the net and MMS etc.

Dont debrand it.
You have the latest software, so theres no benefit at all in debranding.
Very few functions are missing in the tmobile firmware.
