If they locked it to a sim an mde it impossible to unlock then more handsets would be binned as they can be sold on thus adding to pollution.

I really hope that doesn't come to pass... what would you do with the phone once you upgrade? throw it away? What a waste!

Who'd want to buy phones anymore? We've already go branded and locked phones, so why make another restriction on comsumers?

that's totally absurd! People pay money for their phones to do whatever they want and is legal to do with them, including selling them. The only way I can upgrade my phones frequently is if I sell the one I own, so it won't be possible if I have one of those Nokias. If there was a remote idea of buying one of the N phones, with this it vanishes away.

Hi all,
sorry but i give no credit to this story at all and it would only effect Network bought phones and i only buy sim free now. The reason i say this is rubbish is because the latest Nokia phones BB5 can not be unlocked other than by the Network requesting the unlock code from Nokia and selling it to us. So the need for this is redundant now anyway as the Networks already have the protection they require.
