has anyone noticed that when searching the contact's list by typing the name it will not go directly to the name but instead it will only go to the beginning letter of the name like for example "R" then you have to use the joystick to browse down to get the name like "Richard".....does anyone experienced this.....Is this a bug on the software???

region? i think around China they only use a single character... based on their language... so i think SE produced around that area all behaves like this.

My K790i is with China software version R1CC003 and with Chinese in the language menu. Can do multiple character search. Maybe different software for K800i?

My k800i works with some names, but doeas'nt with others. for exmple, when searching for "Mom", and keying in the "M" and "O", it only goes to the first entry under M.
btw, i'm on R1CB001.

I don't get this problem. I've got contacts in my address book called Neil and Niz, and when I press "N", Neil obviously comes up first. But when I then press "I", it moves to Niz. Maybe your leaveing too long a pause between pressing the first and second letter?

I have Mailene Rachel, Mark Owen and Mom on my phone book. When I key in the letter M, it obviously points to Mailene. But, if i key in the letter O right after M, it just points to Mark Owen instead of pointing to Mom. I am sure I'm not leaving too long a pause because the letter M is still up there beside the magnifying glass icon when i key in the O.

Hmmmmmm...... try playing with the Sort Order. Go to Address Book, click Options, select Advanced, select Sort Order, and choose By First Name. If your already using By First name, select By Last name... have a play with that.
My magnifying glass stays up there too, but I don't know why your phone jumps to the O in Owen. Odd.
