I don't think you can, due to the configuration of google's pop server. Google has the philosophy that emails should never be erased, just filed, in order to make it possible for you to search in your received mails later using google's search engine. That would of course fill your phone with google mails quite soon, so the configuration removes them from the phone if they have been read at the next sync, but I believe that they are not removed from google's database, so if you log on to googlemail with a web browser (or by using the wap interface on your phone) the messages are still there.

Just add the right certificate manually or use xxx.googlemail.com servers in your app instead of xxx.gmail.com

Well just tried it with my p990i gmail account, sent off 2 emails one by one...downloaded the first one fine...then downloaded the 2nd one as well without any probs. Then went to send/receive again and it didnt delete my emails that were already downloaded.

So most probably a setting somewhere in your phone that specifies to delete the messages on the phone after doing a re-synch ie send/receive.

hmmm, i've had a look at the settings and they all seem ok, cant see any settings for deleting downloaded messages. I also have the WM5 wizard handset and the same issue occurs on that with dowloaded emails.
It may be my pop settings within gmail, but after checking they all seem fine.
Can some tell me what there setting within gmail are. Also if anyone with an m600i is having the same issue with downloaded emails dissapearing.

I just had problems configuring my Gmail account, it resolved itself by changing gmail.com to googlemail.com - the error I got was something like "could not create secure login string" or something. Works like a treat now.
