usb 2.0 hard drives are god awefull! 480kbs is a load of balls I tell you.

I bought a 250gb usb 2 hd the otherday to copy stuff onto, its a mybook one so not as if its cheap. It took over 6 hoours to copy 130gb onto it and I have no idea how/why my firewire one only takes 40 min for so for about 150gb

yeh, just buy a firewire one, they seem to be the only decent external hds out there. USB 2.0 is good for printers and scanners etc but then you want to copy lots its not good enough

Well it depends to be honest, if you running firewire 400 or 800, cause Firewire 400 and USB 2 are clocked at the same speed.

I would check your mybook as I have the same one it didnt take that long, backed up my macbook pro (90Gb) in under an hour.

I am using a firewire 400 and my mac is usb 2.0 on both sides.

even though the "clock rate is the same" its a fact that usb is slower because of protocalls it uses I believe
