Hi, did you load the Sony Ericsson software prior to plugging the USB cable in or afterwards?

No, loading the software before plugging in the phone is correct. Has the phone monitor software popped up asking you to asociate your SIM card? This can take a while first time and often only after you try to start a Sony app. Open Windows Explorer and then the Sony Ericsson File Manager. Click on the "not connected" icon a few times to see if that triggers the phone monitor option.

ok, did you have any previous versions of the Sony Ericsson software suite installed on your system? -
Possibly try the following : Disconnect your phone from the computer - Uninstall all the Sony Ericsson software. Restart your computer - If you have a quick enough internet connection download the latest PC Suite 1.20.237.exe from here

Don't plug the phone in untill fully installed and see if this helps

Hi @moollans,
OK - so the new software is loaded and if the application stated "found new hardware" and then subsequently loaded (I think from memory about 6 driver requests) then we can assume that the USB cable is working. Again, try all the SE applcations like sync manager - file manager image transfer etc etc - you must get to the stage that the wizard starts to ask you to register your SIM.
Also - after restart, open up the SE PC Suite and try the "tools" "phone monitor options" to see if that helps trigger the software
Do you have the ability to bluetooth to your computer?
