i've set a personal ringtone for my husband using a downloaded mp3. i've verified that the mp3 does indeed play on my p990 and that it can be found in the sounds and ringtones section. however, whenever my husband calls me, the standard ring plays (even though the selected personal ringtone shows for him in his contacts entry). is this a bug? has anyone found this as well? did i miss some setting somewhere else to make this work?

any information would be greatly appreciated! couldn't find anything like this issue in doing a search...

Personal ringtones work fine on my P990. I saved them in the Phone's memory and not in the memory stick if that makes a difference.

thanks for the reply, bitnaut! i do have this mp3 saved in the phone's memory. i must be doing something else wrong - i will try a different ringer and see if that works. maybe it's just something with the selected mp3 (it is a large file) that's causing this...

Some things to think of while selecting the file is to see that it has only standard-text. No strange characters and no spaces.

not like this: My sPeCiaL söönG.MP3

I don't know if that will fix it.. but it can be a good rule to follow since some programs and devices are a bit sensetive.

thanks for the reply, joel80! the file name had an underscore in it, and i removed that and tried again, but still no dice. i tried a different built-in ringtone, and that didn't work either, so it doesn't seem to be the mp3 i'd downloaded that's the problem. i'm due for the latest firmware update, so maybe that will help, though i'm concerned that others aren't also having this problem since that would indicate there's something funky with my p990...

i would double check that you haven't stored the number twice as this can confuse the phone and make it use the default ringer!
