I'm just wondering this, as we're about to have our electricity cut off for the day whilst they repair some cables. They should have done this 25 mins ago, I'm surprised we're still on!

How would you cope without electricity? No power to charge your phone, mp3 player, no stereo, TV, computer. Taking out batteries as an option and talking theoretically, how would you survive and what would you do if there was no electricity a) at all, or b) for a 24 hour period?

Me? I'd use it as an excuse to read a lot more, perhaps go outside with my binoculars and bird/nature watch, go for a walk. Good time to think, as well.

i think you sumed it up by saying you'd go out matey

theres a world outside your front door and i'd use this as an excuse to expore it

being as its only a 24hr period it aint the end of the world... if it was forever then i guess itwould be hard adjusting from having electricity to having none, but there are people out there who live happily without any at all..... i guess id probably end up playing rock, scissors or stone for a long time to come

this type of situation is a real bummer for people who's work depends on electricity - ie working from home on a pc etc....

hope you have an enjoyable 24hrs dude

Luckily it's not 24 hrs but only about 8, just wondering theoretically how people would cope without it at all for either 24 hours or permanently!

Luckily half that time without power i'll be at work, i'm surprised it's still on at the mo!

Its not unusual for us to be without power for over 8 hours at a stretch due to load shedding here.. feels terrible.

I guess we're lucky here, as the power is usually pretty reliable, if it does go off it's usually only for a few mins.

Makes me wonder about how reliant a lot of us are on electricity, and how we'd cope if there was none, or a huge power cut.

Would practice Iajutsu awhile , Read , Watch my newborn daughter sleep. . Lucky they give you notice of power cut-offs there.. In Malaysia they cut power 3 to 5 times a month with no notice anywhere from 3 to 10 hours at a time. Makes me miss Tokyo more.. At least Singapore is close and the power works there...
