Hello there.

I own a Mac Book and i've just bought a P990i. I've noticed that there is almost no support at all between the Mac and P990i. Does anyone know if there is anything in common between the 2 devices? The only thing i can do is send & receive files by Bluetooth, nothing else!

Also- i have a problem with WiFi between the 2 devices.. My P990i connects to the MacBook's router, but everytime i try to browse in the Web, it just tells me 'Cannot Locate.....' and similar errors.. has anyone been through this? (i've asked for help for the WiFi in a wifi problem thread, but no-one answered..).. Thank you.

mbp 2.16GHz user here.

there's no way we can use p990i with our macs.

the only solution is to install Boot Camp, inorder to sync, backup and upgrade the firmware.

parallels desktop can only detect p990i as a "Storage Device'.

whats the setup and router are you using?

i am using aiport express and my setup:

Airport Express:
Wireless Security - WPA2
Channel - Automatic
Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible

p990i:
Network name (SSID) - my airport express name
Authentication - WPA-PSK
Network Mode - Infrastructure

Data Encryption - TKIP
Passphrase - my aiport express 'Pre-Shared' key

With the above cofiguration, i can connect via my wlan, with no problem.

My Powerbook mated perfectly with my 910i using isync.

Does this not work with the 990i?!

The problem is that Apple has not implemented SNYCML in iSync for UIQ 3.0. To date there is NO way to use iSync and the P990, nor the M600i.

Hopefully Apple will update iSync soon. Mac OS X 10.4.8 is just around the corner, so there's lots of people crossing their fingers!

BTW, do you know, that you can sent all contacts from AddressBook? I know, it is not iSync, but it was helpful for me. I have PowerBook only withut BootCamp option. However, actually I haven't any easy solution for iCal.

For iCal, the problem is the format used. iCal under Tiger uses the vCal 2.0 format and the UIQ devices the vCal 1.0 format which are not compatible. You need a translator and I didn't find one except my old Palm Device. If you sync a Palm Device with your Mac, you can then beam or send via BT all your calendar (Category All, Send Category) in one go to your P990. Comes out perfect. So it's time to go fishing for that old Treo 180...

In the other direction, it is easier, you can BT any event from the phone directly to the Mac. iCal can read vCal 1.0 even if it cannot write it. With correct BT settings, the events go straight into the Calendar.

I have access to Apple system seeds and 10.4.8. The release is still too early to try it on my machine, but I would not bet on it. There is no hint at iSync testing in the release notes which focus on the "areas of change".

Actually i haven't tried syncing my calender events with iCal, but the address book works perfect with me. I just select all and send via BT, and the phone saves them ALL at once!!

But hasn't anyone here been what i've been through with the WiFi and Mac Airport Express router?? i tried it on my MacBook, and my friend's MacBook Pro. It connects, but i cant open any web page, it keeps on saying cannot locate remote server, or something like that. what am i doing wrong!;/
