Hello Friends,
I'm in a big problem. So I want some valuable suggestions from u.
I bought a Nokia N70 on 19th May 2006. It worked well till 17th July. But on 18th, I got a error where it was showing signal on screen but while calling, it was displaying "No network Coverage". So I visited Service Centre of Nokia and they did a firmware update. But on next day, phone started to give me same error and gradually signal disappeared completely. So I visited the service centre again and they said that the phone should be sent to Bangalore bcoz it has a Hardware error. So they sent that phone to Bangalore on 22nd July. I waited for 22 days, but no replies from them. So I started to write mails to "ASK NOKIA" section. After writing too many mails, they agreed to swap(replace) my handset.
After waiting for 47 days, I finally got that handset on 8th Sep(friday). It worked well for 5 hours. But after that it showed that same old error! No signal on screen.
So I feel that my handset wasn't replaced. Nokia cheated me by flashing the mobile to change it's IMEI and changing the external covers.
So what are the steps that I can take against nokia for their cheating? I'm very new to these matters. So I don't understand what to do. If I simply submit my handset to service center, they will again make to wait for 45 days and return me that same old set which has errors. So I want to take some legal actions against NOKIA under Consumer Acts . Your valuable suggestions will help me a lot to proceed and get success.
Thanks in Advance......
Alan

@alan - First, go back to the place where you got your unit and ASK them for the last time if they will replace the 2nd issued 'defective' handset, if you got a negative response better bring the issue to your place's Department of Trade and Commerce office . . . ask how can they help you with it . . . Good Luck !

i too made a foolish decision of getting a nokia handset , 6708 and am mad at them as they had already replaced me the handset once and now the second one has hung and they are taking more than 3 weeks to sort the things out....
meanwhile i made a search in google and found that some had given defective handsets twice by nokia and the person filed a case against nokia and the shop from where the purchase was made.....
the case was given a verdict in favour of the customer and compensation was also given... this is the link to the news report

i will wait for a few more days and then going to file a case ......
we are customers and we have rights......

my n70 was also 'tampered' according to Nokia Philippines to think i bought it as brand new at Nokia Professional.
It was fixed after 2 days, no charge since it still under warranty and they told me that the phone is not tampered.

@alan typicab nokia service. My 6670's internal memory was corrupted and failed to even start up. I suggested them to flash it. They returned it saying its been flashed, but it wasnt, although it was working properly. By the time i reached home from the care center, the phone was dead again. I returned it again and they returned inturn have it back to me, but it died shortly again.
Then they finally flashed it, and it managed to work an entire month befor dying. I got a replacement there after, but after a loooong wait.
My point: nokia is a slow learner, i'm telling them the problem was software related, and they are making notes of "scratches on screen" and "non original panels".
And its lucky we got gsm phones. If it's cdma, nokia will send it to chennai for repairs
as for the last punch, the care center proudly displayed a banner claiming some 8.5 million customers served at that particular place alone. They probably fail to realise that it reflects their bad quality control

hi i faced the same problem with my lg mobile i took it to service center. instead of fixing the problem they broken its lcd display and they refuced to replace the lcd screen than i contacted the customer head of mumbai and he assured me that after the approval from lg head office they will replace the lcd screen. and later lg approved the replacement of lcd screen but the service center ppl refuced to replace the display by saying they didn't received such approval and they asked me to pay Rs1800. than i later contacted the lg customer head again and he gave the warning to service center and later service center ppl replaced the lcd screen.
these days all the service centers r in contract so they always try to make money by fooling customer. my suggestion is go to the customer office of nokia inform them about the the problem. I am sure they will sourt it out.
