Can anyone with Belgian phone (in the firmware has a CDA xxxxxx/55 right?) please look under the Hidden Lock Menu (jog dial down * * jog dial down) and see if your padlocks are closed or open?
Alt Q- Can anyone say EXACTLY how to tell if your phone is the World vs Europe version?
I am getting the "your phone is up to date" hassle with a R1A14 organizer FW so I KNOW it is out of date. BUT my phone in the Hidden Locks menu all has the padlocks *unlocked* with nothing entered in the MNC2 or 3 fields for any of the categories, there is no branding, and no other sign of a lock.
My CDA is a XXXX/5 instead of a /1 or /2 like some, but the only post I have found commenting on the /X says that /55 are locked and others are not. Can not find out any meaning for a /5 (only one 5 not two) like mine, maybe a partial lock?
So. What do I/we have??? Does anybody know how to tell what a /5 is?
thanks,
Dave

All three entries, network, Network Subset, and SIM have the small padlock unlocked, and the number 5. This number is the same as in the CDA xxxxxx/5 listed under firmeware info.
I can NOT reflash FW from UK, Hong Kong, US, without getting a "your phone is up to date" which is clearly wrong.
Can you help me figure out if this phone is loced to one carrier's FW or a region or is the problem on my computer/SEUS end?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Mac- when you say 'same here' do you mean you also are /5 or do you mean you can't update in general also? If this first, then can you pelase say if you have a /5, /55 or what? If the second, then I'll guess the reason you can't update is your phone is /55 and there are a lot of reports of /55 not being able to update because they are tied to a carrier's firmware. most reports say you will need to wait until that carrier updates their firmware, sorry.
my stress is from the phone not updating and being a /5 (NOT /55) yet can not update and gives no sign of being locked anywhere...
so what does your phone have, /5 or /55???

I mean I also bought it in belgium and can't update.
My CDA is /55 , everything is unlocked in the service menu and the unit is unbranded and not tied to a specific operator....strange

Well, curioser and curioser... I tried updating FW again today and this time selected a chinese language (I don't know for sure which one since they *are* in chinese) and lo and behold it worked!
I do not know then if the phone being a CDA xxxxxx/5 means it is locked to region 5 (or whatever) and that is what 'worked', or if SE updated the 'other' firmwares out there and that was what 'worked'...
My info is now:
Phone: CXC 162037 R7A001
BT: CXC 162058 R4F01
ORG: CXC 162072 R2A05
CDA: CDA 162007/5 R2A04
I know the ORG is the "important" one but I post the others so people can help decipher this /5 issue...
Did any Belgian (/55) users try updating today? Or Italy? Or anyoen else who has been getting 'no updates necessary'? Did it work for you?

I am afraid not to understand what you're trying to tell us
- Have you upgraded a Belgian P990i with CDA162008/55 (supposeldy FW locked) by chosing chinese language while using SEUS software update and it worked !
- Now your CDA has been changed to CDA162007/5 version
You also want to gather information about the meaning of CDA's
I tried to reproduce upgrading but didn't work for me

Sorry if I wasn't more clear- I was trying to find out what the heck a /5 CDA phone was versus the /55 Belgian phones, to see if I shared a common problem with them or had my own problem.
The end result is I found a great response by jcount on my-symbian (http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27799&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=270) that led me to the uiqzone site which talked about the /5. Apparently it is UK, unbranded, so in theory I *should* be getting the current R3 organizer firmware, but am still getting R2 so do not know for sure what is going on...
so if you ahve a belgian /55 then no, I don't think what I am doing/seeing wil help ya, sorry!;)

What organizer firmware do you have? I have gotten up to CXC 162072 R2A05 but can not get up to R3... sigh. Phone is slower on R2 than it was on R1;(
Any /5's out there PLEASE tell me you got to R3 and how-
thanks,
D
