After soooo long waiting for it and getting it finally I now am having doubts about it and may go back to my Treo 650. The old saying you only realise what you had when is gone is so true.

So why do I want to go back? The fact that the UI is not that user friendly. I can't believe how many times I need to get out my stylus or tap the screen because no hardware button or the jog dial will not highlight a box, or switch a tab etc. Also I have to press so many things or go through various sub menus. I am of course comparing this to my Palm Treo 650. I could virtually do everything with my thumb on the D Pad. I can instanltly move to any tab, field, checkbox etc with just my thumb. This is what I dearly miss now that I have the new phone.

When you are walking down the street, you don't have to focus too much on the phone with the Treo dpad. With the P990, I have to slow my pace, remove the stylus which I feel should have been on the right hand side as most people are right handed (i think) and tap here and tap there. Not entirley practical when you are on the move.

I know the P990 has a flip with a Dpad but a) ithe flip makes the phone bulkier, b) I feel it is too small and instead of pressing the middle button I end up pressing up. So frustrating.

Also with the Treo, you exit an app and it closes. None of this having to worry about closing things manually with a task manager for fear of consuming too much memory and slowing the phone down.

Yes the P990 has features I wish the Treo has (wi fi, radio and better cam). This is why I changed phone. However, now I realise what an excellent phone the treo is - best combination of phone and pda especially with all the third party tweaks for the interface out there.

I'll be honest, only had the phone for 2 days. Maybe I am being too harsh and not giving it a fair chance to get used to it, but as I had a Treo, all I ever do is compare it to it.

What do I do? Go back to a Treo or hang on in with the P990 for better firmware and more software support?

The new Treo 750v looks great but its a WM5 device and that involves a task manager too. Sheesh!

Frustrated!

I know the feeling. I was trying to get a text out in the car (don't start) and it was far more strenuous than my trusty P900.

I'll give it some more time and see how it goes, so would suggest the same.

Yeah, many people here are selling away their P990i.

The UI is not user friendly, no screen saver, very very soft speaker and slow saving of BT files into the Inbox.

I'll be selling away my P990i too.

I think there is a screen saver. Anyway, Vodafone told me I have a 14day money back guarantee to cancel my 18 month contract and get a refund on the phone and I really think, sadly, that its going back.

Its just so frustrating to use. Not just because of all the bugs and crashes I get but even if there were no bugs or crashses, its just the UI. Not practical at all and a pain to use and navigate.

Such a shame!

There is a screensaver, was on mine atleast, but the gui isnt as good as the p910i, but they are still working on it. The bt saving to inbox was very frustrating lol, pissed me right off and my speaker was surprisingly loud

duno what it was really, but I just prefered my k750i (then again I don't even like the k800i lol)

There is a short screensaver.

I would have prefered the K750i time screensaver instead of a pitch black screen when the screensaver goes off.

If many ppl are sellin their P990i, the prices should drop.

Yes, the handphone retail outlets prices are dropping quickly here, much quicker then when the N80 was introduced.

While people in UK are waiting eagerly for their P990i, it is the opposite here where people are eagerly selling away their P990i.

There is no 30 days refund if you are not satisfied with the product here so you''ll get people selling away their P990i.

HTH.
