> The next Walkman phone for USA?
Bookmark topic
I have been looking around for quite sometime now for a successor for my W810 in the USA, but haven't found anything. I hear of things like the W850 and W950, but they won't be available here. I'd love a new version with the Walkman 2.0 player and other feature upgrades. I'm not asking for a new phone right away, but I'm wondering why there haven't been announcements for a new Walkman series phone in Quad band for the USA. Anyone got any info about this?

cuz the US is not a very hugh market. that's y there's not alot of walkman phones. alot more ppl uses 900/1800/1900 then 850...so that's y they make alot for the north america ppl.

What's to stop you from buying the W850 and using it anyway. I waited forever for the W800 to come here with no luck just to watch it be phased out in favor of the W810. I loved this W810 so much from everything I read here that I just decided to order it unlocked from SE.

As more time passes, Cingular (The largest GSM provider in the US with over 60 Million subscribers) is turning off more 1900 towers and enabling 850 in their place. So while a W800 might have worked OK a year ago, next year you'll be lucky to get any reception with it. Not to mention the fact that it's a 3g/gprs phone which is only usable in gprs in the states. If it was 3g/EDGE/gprs then it would be something else, but SE hasn't gotten that far yet.

Ahh, is the W850 not quad band? I guess I can feel secure that my W810 is quad band with edge. And I use TMobile.

Would be nice if all SE phones had the option for 3G/Edge and Quad band. Variety and choices would be great. I love my W810, but I would definitely like the Walkman 2.0 player and a better camera built-in eventually. I also wish they would bring back the lens cover from the W800 that I originally had (which I had to replace, since it didn't work with Cingular). It seems like I'm in the minority here, but I like the color appearence and the joystick better on the W800 than the W810 (although I love the extra buttons on the W810). I just wish there would be more options. I know that the Walkman phone series is still pretty young, but It seems like other places are getting more available (i.e. W850, W900, W950, etc), but none will work in the USA. Hopefully they are developing a big dream suprise for us, but I wish they would at least announce something.

I have just returned from New York and I was surprised to find I could ring home, send text messages and browse wap using my W900i - all at extortionate t-mobile prices of course (55p per text message).
There were no 3G networks there - I done a quick search.
