Once upon a time mobile phone firmware updates actually added some useful functions to the phone - they weren't just there to fix things that should work anyway!

So appart from some bug fixes (like the "v" menu-> new->task = "bad request" and others) i would like everyone here with a M600 to request some little tweeks to the phone that could realistically be done which you feel will make the phone better.

Here are a few of mine...

1) when typing in a phone number on the main screen there should be a "save" button between the "call" and the "more" buttons. or at least an option to add contact in the "more" menu. All there is is "copy number".

2) when you type a number on the screen during a call it would be helpfull if it was still there when i put the phone down.

3) the power save should be more intellegent - ie the screen should not go dark when playing a game or in applications where there is alot of reading involved (like the web browser). i know i can change the settings so the light is on longer but its fine most of the time.

4) when sending a message to a number in my address book i think i would preffer the "contacts" button at the bottem of the SMS composing screen to go straight to the address book instead of bringing up another menu saying "select contact" followed by recent used contacts. there just seems to be too many button presses to send an SMS.

I've only has my phone 3 days so i would be interested in what people who have had their handsets for a while think - or indeed how they work around my issues above.

Regards

Mobman

Deleting SMS is tricky someimtes as it says bad request. often turning it off then back on works, but this shouldn't have to be.

cannot open sms from voicemail as it says msg is incomplete.

also when u receive email it dos not put it in the inbox after read. the only way to read the msg again is to search for it with the find command.

for some reason the quality of the pictures for contacts gets worse everytime they call. this can be rectified by adding the picture again to the contact, but aain i shouldn't have to.

other than that, great phone lol

my pics are of all different sizes but usually i find the bigger the picture, the better the contact picture. but then it decreases in quality over time.

sometimes it looks really ugly and i just take it off, which is a shame as i'd rather it do what the K750 did. The k750 used to take a few seconds to load the full quality picture when the phone was ringing, whereas the m600 has a poor quality one straight away.

It should be possible to distinguish between read and unread messages.

Currently all of them represented by mail icon, however most of the phone UIs use open mail for read and closed for unread email Very confusing each time.

Hmm i use 800x600 pic. resolution. If I call contact often then pic. quality looks like crap but if I dont call it often then looks good but not perfect.

I have two things in mind right now:

1. Smarter contact search function. I want to be able just typing in any part of the name entry and the contacts will directed me there. Currently, the contacts search function only search for the last name only, as I also wanted to search using first name.

2. SMS or general messaging filtering. I want the phone to have the ability to automatically moves a message to a designated folder... Well through filtering process, and personalised tone for the particular groups/person.

you should be able to turn off animated menus!

notice if you leave the video player running in the background the menu is fast because the animation from one button to the next is disabled.

i have the vid app running all the time now
