I just converted my k750i to a w800i/c using this method:
http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=3996
When I first used the generic USA CDA, my phone could not display chinese characters. So I reflashed my phone using the generic Hong Kong (and China) CDA and voila, the chinese characters appeared, beautifully. However, I found out that the only writing language I could choose (besides german, french, chinese) was "Standard ABC" which is multitap and not T9.
Does anybody have a solution for my problem? I need my phone to 1. display chinese characters and 2. be able to use T9 text input.
Thanks for your help!

In order to have t9 text input, you have to have .t9 files in your language folder. The german t9 file is de.t9, english en.t9 and traditional chinese wdb.t9.
Go to tpa/present/system/language folder and check to see if they are there. If not, TopSony.com has most of them. Get them and put them in the said folder and that will do, I guess.

Hmm... where do I find that folder? Does this somehow involve FAR? Damn, I guess I couldn't avoid it forever...

Yes, you have to use FAR to view the folder. It's not that scary. You have been to the scarest part of flashing it.
If you don't already know it, instructions are here:

go to fs/tpa/preset/system/language folder and see if the .t9 files are there. As you just flashed to the new firmware, the .t9 files should be intact. So, I don't know why you didn't see t9 when inputting message. You check that folder just to make sure the necessary files are there.

Could I just copy and paste the en.t9 file directly into the folder or do I have to flash my phone again or whatever?
I'm trying to follow this guide:
http://forums.se-nse.net/inde[....]=4129&hl=language%20pack&st=80
I just registered at TOPSONY, guess I'll have to wait to get the language file.
Damnit FAR is too complicated. All I want to do is use t9 English!

Heh heh, just me replying to you.
You just need to copy the necessary t9 files to that folder. The HONG_KONG firmware doesn't come with en.t9? I am surprised. My w800i is from Hong Kong and it has wdb.t9 and en.t9 in it.
Give me your email address, I will send you the t9 files if you don't want to wait for the registration to complete. Please specify which t9 files you need.
