Can you get promoted to moderator on esato? is it possible? is that how all the other moderators got their status?

laffen decides who does what and it's entirely up to him, as far as I know, whether or not someone is made a moderator. There hasn't been a new moderator here for quite some time, and I think a new one would only be appointed should one of the existing moderators step down (or laffen decides he needs more moderators).
masseur did step down not too long ago and there was some discussion on appointing a new moderator from what I hear, but since masseur returned nothing came of it.

And so far Laffens appointments the mod have been very well judged. As far as I know there hasnt been a change in mod since I joined Esato over 18 months ago( it feels like about 5 years).

You should be visiting Esato more often. Then you would spot more than one moderator.
