My first post here so hello everyone!!
Had a K800i for about a month with a SE BT headset. I use voice dialling a lot when in the car and the following started happening.
1. After powering on the phone, i was able to make a call via voice dial without a problem. After one or two calls (literally), the BT headset would stop working and i was able to pick up a call via the headset but i could not hear anything, nor was i able to voice dial again. This would rectify after powering the phone off then on again after which it would work once or twice before the problem would reoccur.
2. Now and again a strange crackling popping sound could be heard from the phone, not only whilst on a call but also when the phone was on standby.
This again, was rectified after a reboot but after a while would start happening again.
I took the phone back to CPW and they replaced it and all was working fine with the new K800i. Tested it thoroughly after receiving.
Today both problems 1. and 2. started occurring again with the new phone and i have taken the phone back to CPW to get it repaired (replaced with a lovely Nokia 1100 loan phone....erm lovely!)
The BT headset has been tested with a Nokia 6230i and also a K750i in CPW and it seemed to be working without these problems where the phone needed rebooting so it seems that it is OK.
I have tried deleting the headset from 'my devices' then pairing it again, then sometimes it works a couple of times before giving the same symptoms again.
Anyone have any idea what could cause these sort of problems, not only with the first phone i had but also with the replacement?
BTW the headset is the Sony Ericsson HBH-PV-705 model.
Thanks

This could possibly be a bug in the phone firmware which can be fixed in a future firmware update! Nothing big, no need to give your phone back for another. For more information on future updates for your phone look

I once had exactly the same problem (number 1, not number 2). Hope it will be solved through new firmware.

I wouldn't mind re-flashing the firmware myself every now and then if needed (with SEUS). But does this void the warantee if i do it myself?
Until of course, newer, more reliable firmware is released.

No, it won't void your warranty. The issue is that there isn't any new firmware out yet.

Just got the phone back from CarphoneWarehouse.
They have reflashed it with firmware R1ED001.
Working so far, but so was the phone when i originally received it.

Just an update:
Since the firmware update a couple of weeks ago, i haven't had a single problem whatsoever with the bluetooth headset.
My only gripe now is that before the phone starts ringing the name of the caller is heard (after adding voice tags) on the phone rather than through the bluetooth headset. I do a lot of driving and i can't hear the name over the car noise so i have to look down at the phone to hear who is calling; this defeats the object of the bluetooth headset somewhat.
